roty Privacy Policy
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how the roty application, developed by Cobalative Studios, processes personal data and device data.
roty contains no advertising, does not track users, and does not use third-party SDKs for advertising, analytics, or marketing purposes.
2. Information Processed
Account information
The user identifier and display name provided through Sign in with Apple may be processed. The user's email address is not stored in roty's own data model.
User-generated content
The following information may be stored on the device or in the user's iCloud account in order to provide the application's features:
- Roty names
- Points A and B selected by the user
- Generated route geometry
- Roty decorations and personalizations
- Contact connections and invitations
- Sharing preferences
- Application settings
Journey information
Journey summaries such as start and end times, journey duration, journey result, and authorized viewers may be stored.
Raw location history is not stored as a journey record.
Notification and request records
Records required to display contact invitations, Roty sharing requests, live journey permissions, and related application notifications may be stored on the device or in iCloud.
3. Location Data
roty may request location permission for the following purposes:
- Opening the Roty creation map near the user's current area
- Verifying the user's proximity to the selected journey starting point
- Calculating the user's progress along the Roty during an active journey
- Updating approved journey progress even when the user does not keep the application continuously open
Location updates may continue in the background only when the user explicitly starts an active journey and grants the required permission.
Current raw coordinates are not sent to Cobalative Studios and are not shared with viewers. The device locally converts location data into normalized progress between 0 and 1 along the Roty.
Only the following information may be sent to an authorized viewer:
- Normalized progress along the Roty
- Journey direction
- Route status
- Packet creation time
- Relevant journey and Roty identifiers
Points A and B, together with the route coordinates deliberately selected by the user when creating a Roty, form part of the created Roty content. This information may be stored on the device or in iCloud and may be shared only with people authorized by the user.
4. iCloud and Apple Services
roty uses the following Apple services:
- Sign in with Apple
- Apple MapKit
- Apple CloudKit
- Apple Push Notification services
Rotys, decorations, contact connections, sharing permissions, and live progress packets may be stored in the user's private or shared iCloud database.
This information may pass through Apple's infrastructure and is subject to Apple's own privacy terms.
Automatic Roty sharing is established only through CloudKit invitations accepted by the user. Live journey access is separate from automatic Roty sharing and requires separate, time-limited, explicit approval for each journey.
5. Data Sharing, Advertising, and Tracking
Cobalative Studios:
- Does not collect the user's current location
- Does not send raw location data to its own servers
- Does not sell user data
- Does not share user data for advertising purposes
- Does not track users across applications and websites
- Does not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs
roty contains no advertising, and there are no plans to introduce advertising in the future.
Data is shared only with roty contacts expressly selected and authorized by the user, and solely for the operation of the relevant sharing feature.
Unless required by law, user data is not transferred to data brokers, advertising networks, independent analytics providers, or marketing organizations.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Data may remain on the device and in iCloud for as long as necessary for the relevant feature to function or for the data to remain available in the user's account.
The user may request deletion of local data managed by roty and the user's iCloud records by following this path within the application:
Settings → Account → Delete All My DataThe user may also:
- Stop automatic Roty sharing
- End a live journey
- Remove contact access
- Change or completely disable location permission in the iOS Settings application
- Withdraw permission for background location use
Apple's backup, security, and service records may be subject to Apple's own data retention periods.
7. Security
Data is stored using Apple's application security mechanisms and CloudKit access controls.
Shared data is restricted through invitations, user approval, and authorization mechanisms. Live journey access is time-limited and may be stopped by the user.
Although no digital system can guarantee absolute security, roty is designed around the principles of data minimization, explicit permission, and limited sharing.
8. Children's Privacy
roty is not specifically designed for children. The application is not intended to knowingly collect personal data from children.
A parent or legal guardian who believes that a child's personal data has been processed through the application may contact us to request its removal.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy and the App Store privacy disclosures may be updated if the application's features or data processing practices change.
The effective date of material changes will be shown at the top of this page.
